Meet MARIBEL RODRIGUEZ L.M.H.C
Maribel Rodriguez is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, co founder of DBT Orlando, and a decorated retired Air Force combat veteran. Working with the belief that everyone can achieve success by staying true to the values that include excellence, diversity, and hard work. Her personal and professional experiences such as military experience, corporate, and non-profit experience allows her to lead her organization and bring value to the community they serve. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she graduated from Gateway High School in Kissimmee while participating in several sports and clubs including Track and field, cheerleading, flag football and Choir. After high school, Maribel began serving her country and doing her part to support her community by entering into the Air Force as an Intelligence Airman in 1997. After the Air force she continued to serve as a superintendent and a Religious Affairs specialist for the Florida Air National Guard bringing her commitment to the United States of America to over 20 years. After leaving active duty in 2006, she completed her undergraduate degree in Business, further holding several positions which included Business Analyst, Facilities Manager, Catering Manager and a Church Community Group Manager. But she wanted to do more to impact her community and believed her passion laid in helping others.
In 2010 Maribel began her search, finding her passion of healing individuals who suffer from some of the issues she experienced in her community furthermore starting a different educational path. Finding the what i want to do when i grow up” moment. She graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in 2013 with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. Diving into her calling of becoming a Mental Health Clinician. After graduation, she chose to work with a wide demographic of clientele in well known mental health organizations such as Esperance Counseling and Children’s Home Society. Her valuable work in these organizations allowed her to gain experience working with a multitude of different cultures, ages and mental health diagnosis. Her culturally competent approach allows her to connect easily with many different clients from a range of social-economic, spiritual, culture and races. She continued her work by serving clients from foster homes, youth, parents and parent coaching, veterans, trauma survivors, clients with dual diagnosis, and those with cultural and religious trauma.
In her quest to do more for our communities she founded the organization DBT Orlando. DBT Orlando, specializes in treating and supporting individuals, adolescents, and families who suffer from depression, anxiety, BPD and other psychological disorders. Using her extensive experience of working with adolescents, young adults, families and women to lead her private practice creating the full DBT experience with other clinicians in her practice. Because of her passion for healing others Maribel continued her training in DBT advanced training, TF-CBT, MBCT, emotion focused, and narrative therapy. Using these strategies alongside other modalities that include music, mindfulness, and solution focused to work with adolescents, young adults, women, and couples who have experienced some level of trauma, depression, anxiety, co-occurring diagnoses, family disruption, and parenting challenges. Over the last 5 years, Maribel found herself working extensively with the school system, adolescents, foster care young adults transitioning into adulthood, adults and parents and families. She has gained an incredible amount of information and appreciation for the challenges and resources within the school system, foster care system and the trauma that many are exposed to from a very young age. Maribel gets excited about working with anyone ready to figure out how to live his or her best version of themselves; whether it is finding freedom from trauma, depression, anxiety, transition, parenting challenges, BPD or other psychological disorders. Maribel's vision of the near future includes making a positive impact in the school system by bringing all the benefits of DBT to help our youth and inturn help the future of our community. Included in her vision is the hope of becoming the number one DBT center of Florida. With her passion, dedication, commitment, and hard work Maribel Rodriguez has no doubt that these visions will become a reality!
